OUR STRUCTURE

Saint Barnabas Anglican Church is a small church in the heart of Towson, Maryland. We are a mission of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic and the Anglican Church of North America. We are equal partners with Church of the Resurrection in Lutherville, Maryland.

A Neighborhood Church

The vision and mission of Saint Barnabas Church are expressed in our neighborhood church, encompassing the three streams of Anglicanism and the attributes of Saint Barnabas. We will deliberately remain a relatively small congregation so that our leaders can be pastors of our people and our neighbors - not managers of programs.

Our mission is two-pronged with a common goal: Saint Barnabas the Church focuses the majority of our resources on fostering the immediate surrounding area where we worship with the love of Christ and the Hope of the Gospel.

But we act on the same goal as individuals that do not live in the vicinity. Our mission is the same: to reach our immediate neighbors wherever we live with love and hope.

As we grow, our strategy is to give that growth away by planting other neighborhood churches with the same focus – to care for our community.

Saint Barnabas and Church of the Resurrection

One cannot think about Saint Barnabas without knowing about the Church of the Resurrection. It has grown to be a 500-person church that draws from the whole Baltimore Metro Region. From the very beginning, it expressed a desire to plant other churches. Saint Barnabas is the first of these new communities. And with this lineage, we embrace a similar calling to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Towson Area. Saint Barnabas is independent from Resurrection, with its own leadership and budget. It is generously and faithfully supported by Resurrection -- through prayer, finances, and logistical/administrative support. A number of the core members of Saint Barnabas are missionaries from Church of the Resurrection, some of whom find a home in both communities. The leadership of both churches remain in constant communication and connection, always seeking opportunities to partner together to build God’s Kingdom.
